The Disappearance of Andie Bell
Andie Bell’s disappearance had been a closed case for many in her town. Her boyfriend, Sal Singh, had confessed to her murder, leaving everyone to believe that justice had been served. However, Pip, played by Emma Myers, isn’t convinced.
As part of her Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), Pip begins to dig deeper into the case. Her determination soon leads her to discover a series of shocking revelations that suggest the real story is far more complex than anyone had imagined.
The Hidden Relationship
As Pip delves into Andie’s life, she uncovers a secret relationship between Andie and Elliot Ward, a teacher and the father of Pip’s best friend. Played by Matthew Baynton, Elliot’s involvement with Andie adds a new layer to the mystery.
Despite ending the affair, Andie blackmails Elliot, threatening to expose their relationship unless he gives her £5,000.
A confrontation ensues, leading to Andie suffering a head injury after hitting her head on a countertop. Though injured, Andie rushes home, seeking comfort from her sister, Becca.

The Fatal Confrontation
Pip’s investigation takes a dark turn when she discovers that it was Andie’s sister, Becca, who ultimately caused her death. The series of events leading to Andie’s death unfolds on the night of April 19, 2019.
Becca, portrayed by Carla Woodcock, was struggling with her own trauma after being drugged and raped by Max Hastings, a local boy. The drugs used were part of Andie’s stash, which she supplied to Max.
On that fateful night, Andie reveals her plans to leave home, leaving Becca to face their strict father alone. This revelation, combined with Becca’s desire to report Max’s crime, causes tension between the sisters.
Andie, fearing repercussions for her role in supplying the drugs, tries to dissuade Becca from going to the police. This leads to an argument where Becca, in a fit of rage, pushes Andie.
Already weakened by her earlier injury, Andie falls and tragically chokes on her vomit, leading to her death. In a panic, Becca hides Andie’s body and acts as if nothing happened.
The Fall of Elliot Ward
Pip’s relentless pursuit of the truth not only uncovers Becca’s involvement but also exposes Elliot’s role in Sal Singh’s death. After Andie’s injury, Elliot assumes she has died from the concussion and, in a desperate attempt to cover his tracks, frames Sal for her murder.
He drugs Sal and uses his phone to send a confession message, making it look like Sal is the guilty party. However, Pip notices discrepancies in the confession text, which is written in perfect grammar—unlike Sal’s usual texting style. This clue becomes crucial in exposing Elliot’s involvement.

Elliot’s dark side doesn’t end there. Pip discovers that he has been holding a young woman named Isla captive in his attic for five years.
Isla, who resembles Andie, had the misfortune of crossing paths with Elliot, who kidnapped her to keep his secrets safe. Pip’s quick thinking leads to Isla’s rescue and Elliot’s arrest.
A Bittersweet Ending
While Pip and Ravi Singh, Sal’s brother, successfully uncover the truth, the series concludes with a bittersweet note. Pip and Ravi’s budding romance hints at a happy ending for the two, but the journey has taken its toll on Pip.
With the case closed, she now faces new challenges, including her application to Cambridge and her ongoing mission to seek justice for other victims like Becca.
