POCO X8 and X8 Power have officially arrived in India, bringing large Silicon Carbon batteries, AMOLED displays and Qualcomm’s newer Snapdragon processors to the company’s X series. The two smartphones are aimed at buyers who want strong battery life without moving into the premium flagship segment.
The POCO X8 starts at Rs 29,999, while the more powerful X8 Power is priced from Rs 35,999. Both phones will be available in India from September 11 at 12 noon through Flipkart.
POCO is also offering launch benefits that could make the initial prices considerably more attractive. Buyers can get a Rs 2,000 coupon discount, along with either a Rs 1,000 bank offer or an exchange bonus. With the full launch benefits applied, the effective price comes down to Rs 26,999 for the X8 and Rs 32,999 for the X8 Power.
The two models share much of their display hardware, but the X8 Power steps things up with a faster chipset, better camera hardware, faster charging and an even larger battery.
Large 1.5K AMOLED displays
Both smartphones feature a 6.83 inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution of 2772 x 1280 pixels. The panel supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, which should make scrolling, animations and supported games feel noticeably smoother than on a standard 60Hz screen.
POCO has also equipped the displays with 12 bit colour depth and a claimed peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits. The phones support the DCI P3 colour gamut and TÜV Triple Eye Protection, giving the displays a strong specification sheet for their price range.
The X8 Power gets a couple of additional advantages for video enthusiasts. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, provided the content and streaming service support those formats.
Audio has received attention too. Both phones feature stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi Res Audio support. POCO claims the X8 can deliver up to a 300 percent volume boost, while the X8 Power can reach up to 400 percent.
Snapdragon processors and Android 16
Under the hood, the POCO X8 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Mobile Platform. The 4nm chipset has a maximum CPU speed of 2.4GHz and is available with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
The X8 Power moves to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, which makes its Indian debut with this phone. It can reach CPU speeds of up to 2.6GHz and is paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage.
That faster memory and storage combination gives the X8 Power a clear advantage on paper, particularly for buyers who regularly multitask or keep large numbers of apps and files on their phone.
Both smartphones run Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. POCO says the devices will receive four years of Android updates and six years of security updates, which should help extend their usable lifespan.
Cameras and enormous batteries
The POCO X8 has a 50MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation and an f/1.8 aperture. It is joined by a 2MP depth sensor, while a 16MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.
The X8 Power gets a more versatile camera setup. Its main camera is also rated at 50MP and includes OIS, but the wider f/1.5 aperture should allow more light to reach the sensor in suitable shooting conditions. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera.
POCO has included features such as automatic scene detection and 2x zoom on the X8 Power. The phone can also record 4K video at 30 frames per second using both its rear and 32MP front cameras.
Battery life is arguably the biggest selling point of the new X series. The POCO X8 packs a massive 9,000mAh Silicon Carbon battery and includes Xiaomi’s Surge G1 battery management chip.
Charging is handled by 67W Xiaomi HyperCharge, with a 67W charger supplied in the box. The X8 also supports 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing it to provide power to compatible accessories and other devices.
The X8 Power pushes capacity even further with a 10,000mAh Silicon Carbon battery. It supports 100W Xiaomi HyperCharge and 27W wired reverse charging, with a 100W charger included.
With these capacities, both phones are clearly designed around endurance rather than simply competing on thinness or weight. The X8 Power in particular targets users who want to spend less time looking for a charger, while the faster 100W charging should make topping up the large battery considerably quicker.
Overall, the POCO X8 and X8 Power bring some unusually large battery capacities to the mid range smartphone market. The X8 focuses on delivering the essentials at a lower price, while the X8 Power adds faster hardware, a more capable camera system and quicker charging.
The real choice between the two will likely come down to how much buyers value those upgrades. For users primarily concerned with battery life and a large high refresh rate display, the X8 already offers plenty. Those wanting more performance, better cameras and faster charging have a stronger case for stretching to the X8 Power.
