  • Motorola Signature 27 features a 7,000mAh battery, 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
  • Its display reportedly reaches 12,000 nits of peak brightness, according to Motorola.
  • The phone includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, a 200MP periscope camera and seven years of software updates.
  • Its £1,299.99 price puts it against Apple’s and Samsung’s premium flagship smartphones.

The Motorola Signature 27 has officially arrived, bringing some seriously impressive hardware to the flagship smartphone market. With a massive 7,000mAh battery, a display that Motorola claims is the brightest available on a smartphone, and Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor, this phone looks ready to compete with some of the biggest names in the industry.

However, there is one major catch. The Motorola Signature 27 comes with a premium price tag that puts it directly against Apple’s and Samsung’s most expensive smartphones.

The new handset follows the original Motorola Signature, which launched earlier this year. While the previous model had plenty going for it, its processor was one area where it struggled to match the competition. Motorola appears to have addressed that concern with its latest flagship, although the substantial price increase could make it a difficult sell.

Motorola Signature 27 brings a massive battery and an incredibly bright display

One of the biggest attractions of the Motorola Signature 27 is its battery. The phone packs a 7,000mAh cell, which is considerably larger than the batteries found in many established flagship smartphones.

Motorola has also included 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, giving users several ways to replenish the battery quickly.

The display is another major highlight. Motorola claims the Signature 27 features the brightest smartphone screen available, with peak brightness reaching an astonishing 12,000 nits.

That figure is considerably higher than the advertised peak brightness of several competing flagship devices.

For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra reportedly offers a 5,000mAh battery and a peak display brightness of 2,600 nits. Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max, meanwhile, is said to feature a 5,567mAh battery and a display capable of reaching 3,000 nits.

On paper, Motorola has a substantial advantage in both battery capacity and peak brightness.

Of course, maximum brightness figures do not necessarily reflect everyday usage. Actual screen brightness can depend on factors such as HDR content, ambient lighting and how long the display maintains its peak output.

Still, these specifications suggest Motorola is aiming to deliver a flagship that stands out in areas users can appreciate.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 powers the new Motorola flagship

Motorola has also addressed one of the biggest concerns surrounding the original Signature.

The Signature 27 is among the first smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor, a powerful chipset designed for high end mobile devices.

The new processor is a generation ahead of the chipset reportedly used in the Samsung Galaxy S26 series. It also represents a substantial upgrade over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 found in the original Motorola Signature.

That should make the Signature 27 a more appealing option for users who prioritise performance.

The processor could benefit demanding applications, mobile gaming, multitasking and AI powered features. However, its real world performance will depend on Motorola’s software optimisation, thermal management and power efficiency.

The combination of a large battery and a flagship processor could make the Signature 27 particularly attractive to users who want a powerful smartphone without constantly worrying about charging.

Motorola Signature 27 camera specifications look promising

The camera system is another area where Motorola is trying to compete with established flagship manufacturers.

The Signature 27 features three rear cameras, including a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra wide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Motorola also claims the telephoto camera supports up to 100x AI powered zoom.

That could provide additional flexibility when photographing distant subjects, although digital and AI assisted zoom generally cannot match the detail captured through optical zoom.

One particularly interesting addition is a dedicated EVS action sensor, which Motorola describes as the first of its kind in a smartphone. The sensor is designed to help capture fast moving subjects, potentially making the phone more useful for sports photography and action shots.

On the front, the Signature 27 includes a 50MP selfie camera.

Motorola has also partnered with Bang & Olufsen for its audio experience, promising richer and more immersive sound.

Taken together, these features suggest that the company wants the Signature 27 to appeal to users looking for a premium all round smartphone rather than a device focused exclusively on performance.

Premium materials, long software support and a surprisingly high price

The Motorola Signature 27 has a premium construction that combines ceramic, glass and aluminium. It also carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, offering additional protection against everyday accidents and challenging environments.

The phone runs Android and supports Gemini Intelligence. Motorola is also promising seven years of software updates, which is an important commitment for anyone planning to keep their smartphone for several years.

Another notable addition is support for GrapheneOS, a privacy focused operating system that has traditionally been associated with Google Pixel devices.

This could make the Signature 27 particularly appealing to users who prioritise privacy and want greater control over their smartphone software.

Unfortunately, the price could prove to be its biggest weakness.

The Motorola Signature 27 is set to cost £1,299.99 in Europe, equivalent to approximately $1,750 or AU$2,495. Pricing and availability for the US and Australian markets have not yet been confirmed.

That puts the phone firmly in the territory of Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro Max and Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Motorola has certainly equipped the Signature 27 with specifications that look competitive on paper. However, convincing buyers to spend this much on a Motorola smartphone could be a challenge.

The company does not have quite the same premium brand recognition as Apple or Samsung, particularly among consumers shopping at the highest end of the market.

The Motorola Signature 27 is scheduled to arrive in Europe on November 16, with Pantone Coal Smoke and Pantone Capulet Olive colour options.

Ultimately, the Signature 27 looks like an ambitious flagship with impressive hardware, a huge battery and promising camera capabilities. Whether those features are enough to justify its premium price remains the biggest question.
