Crew Girl Season 1 wastes very little time putting Teagan Tao in the middle of trouble. After her family’s life falls apart, she leaves Los Angeles with her mother Ella and starts over at Easton Prep. What should be a fresh beginning quickly turns into a complicated mix of school politics, rowing rivalries, family secrets and a romance that refuses to settle into a simple choice.
Played by Miku Martineau, Teagan arrives at Easton with plenty to prove. She has a strong rowing background, but she has never worked as a coxswain before. Somehow, she ends up taking control of the school’s varsity crew boat and has to earn the trust of a group of boys who are not exactly prepared to welcome a newcomer.
Her biggest complications, however, come from Cam Dillinger and Josh Regis.
Cam is the quieter option. He is talented, determined and understands what it feels like to be treated as an outsider. Josh is almost the opposite. He comes from a powerful family, carries himself with confidence and initially seems to have everything under control.
That difference is exactly what makes Teagan’s romantic storyline so unpredictable.
Teagan, Cam and Josh become a complicated triangle
Cam and Teagan’s relationship starts with the kind of awkward encounter that quickly turns into genuine chemistry. Their connection grows because both of them understand what it means to fight for respect within the team.
Cam eventually asks Teagan out, and their date gives the two a chance to spend time together away from the pressure of rowing. They share tacos in the back of his truck and make plans to attend the fall formal together.
For Cam, Teagan represents someone who understands him without judging his circumstances. He sees her as another outsider who refuses to let her situation determine her future.
Josh’s relationship with Teagan develops differently. Their early conversations are filled with arguments and sharp exchanges, but that friction gradually becomes attraction. Josh is drawn to Teagan because she refuses to be impressed by his status or intimidated by his attitude.
Josh also begins to reveal a more vulnerable side. He ends his relationship with Britney and makes it clear that his feelings for Teagan are becoming serious.
The situation finally explodes at the fall formal.
Cam becomes increasingly uncomfortable about his financial situation and worries that he cannot give Teagan the kind of life she deserves. His insecurity pushes Teagan away at exactly the wrong moment. She retreats to the boathouse, where Josh finds her.
The two end up hooking up.
That changes everything.
Yet the relationship does not simply move from Cam to Josh. Teagan and Cam reconnect afterward, only for the two to eventually break things off. By the finale, neither relationship has been completely resolved.
So who does Teagan end up with?
The honest answer is that Season 1 deliberately refuses to choose.
Josh gets one of the finale’s most important romantic moments with Teagan. After undergoing heart surgery, he approaches her and asks for another chance. He is more open and vulnerable than the Josh viewers have seen earlier in the season.
The two share a meaningful look, suggesting that their connection is far from finished.
Then Cam appears.
Teagan and Cam kiss, immediately reopening the question of where her heart really lies.
There is another complication waiting in the wings. Cam does not yet know the full truth about Teagan’s secret relationship with Josh. If he discovers what happened between them, their already fragile relationship could become even more difficult.
The finale therefore leaves Teagan exactly where the series seems to want her: caught between two very different relationships while still figuring out who she wants to become.
For now, there is no definitive Team Cam or Team Josh answer.
Teagan herself is the real focus of the story. Her future is not supposed to depend entirely on which boy she chooses. She is also trying to establish herself as an athlete, rebuild her confidence and find a place in a school where she initially felt like an outsider.
The rowing drama gets just as messy
Teagan’s romantic problems are only one part of the Season 1 finale.
Cam becomes involved in a major controversy when Ryder offers him money to throw the Norfolk Indoor Rowing Invitation. Cam initially refuses, but financial pressure at home changes his mind. He accepts a payment of $48,000 and deliberately loses the race.
Teagan discovers what happened and makes a drastic decision. She sabotages the erg so that both she and Cam are disqualified, effectively sacrificing her own opportunity to impress a junior national team scout.
It is a major moment for Teagan because she is not simply protecting Cam. She is making a choice that could hurt her own rowing ambitions.
The consequences continue into the Haverford Cup.
An investigation finds evidence that the rowing equipment was tampered with. Teagan removes herself from the competition, but the rest of the team refuses to row without her. Coach Hayden eventually allows her back into the boat.
With Cam now in the stroke seat and Teagan back as coxswain, Easton manages to beat Westvale and win silver.
The victory comes at a cost. Principal Cabrera discovers what happened and confronts Coach Hayden, who accepts responsibility and loses his job.
Meanwhile, the mystery surrounding Josh’s broken oar takes another turn. The team initially suspects Logan, particularly after Baloo discovers Logan had an opportunity to damage the equipment. Later, Logan reveals that Josh was actually responsible.
That revelation adds another layer to Josh’s already complicated Season 1 storyline.
Josh’s heart condition changes his future
Josh’s health becomes one of the season’s most serious storylines.
He secretly sees a cardiologist in Baltimore and learns that he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Continuing to row competitively could put his life at risk, but Josh feels enormous pressure from his family to keep performing.
Rather than immediately accepting the diagnosis, he secretly obtains medication that allows him to continue racing.
Eventually, his body forces the issue. Josh experiences severe heart pain while driving and crashes his car. He can no longer hide what is happening.
His father supports him, but his grandfather reacts much more coldly. That response reinforces Josh’s fear that his value to the family depends entirely on his ability to perform.
His heart surgery gives him an opportunity to rethink his future.
Whether Josh returns to competitive rowing remains unanswered. His story could move in several directions if the series continues, including a possible role away from the water or even a coaching position.
What happens to Teagan’s family?
Teagan’s family problems also reach a major turning point.
The FBI reveals that her father, David, defrauded investors of millions of dollars. The family’s money is seized, and David disappears, leaving Ella and Teagan to deal with the consequences.
David later returns with a USB drive and claims he has a plan to repair the damage. His idea involves blackmailing a business partner to recover enough money to restore their former lifestyle.
Teagan eventually discovers that her father is nearby.
Instead of helping him escape, she tells him that she would rather know where he is and be able to speak to him than continue living with uncertainty.
David watches Teagan compete at the Haverford Cup before finally turning himself in.
That decision gives Teagan a small but important victory. She cannot undo what her father did, but she can decide what kind of person she wants to be in response.
The finale also sets up another major change at Easton Prep.
Britney decides to create a girls’ crew team. After seeing how competitive rowing can be, she gathers students and secures support from her wealthy family.
That could dramatically change Teagan’s future.
She has always had ambitions beyond coxing and has a particular passion for singles rowing. Joining the new girls’ team could give her a chance to pursue her own athletic career instead of constantly being defined by the boys’ boat.
It could also create a new source of rivalry between Teagan and Britney.
For now, Crew Girl ends without giving Teagan a final romantic answer. Cam is still in the picture. Josh is still in the picture. Teagan’s rowing future is also wide open.
That uncertainty feels deliberate.
Season 1 is less about Teagan choosing the perfect boy and more about her discovering what she wants from her life. If the story continues, the new girls’ team, Josh’s recovery, Cam’s changing role and the secrets still surrounding the Regis family could make the next chapter even more complicated.
