The software also introduces new ways to manage children’s online activity, improve photo editing, organise browsing sessions and make connections between Apple devices feel more seamless.

Siri AI brings a more conversational assistant to Apple devices
Siri AI is the biggest change in Apple’s latest software updates. Built on the next generation of Apple Intelligence, the redesigned assistant is intended to go beyond answering basic questions and responding to simple voice commands.
The new Siri can understand personal context from information such as messages, emails and photos, helping users find relevant details without having to search through several apps. It also brings broader knowledge, onscreen awareness and more extensive systemwide app actions.
For example, users can ask Siri about something currently displayed on their screen or request information from the web. On iPhone, a new Siri mode within the Camera app allows people to interact with what their camera is viewing and take actions based on that information.

New parental controls give families more control over screen time
Apple is introducing additional safety and screen management features aimed at helping parents create more appropriate digital experiences for children.
A redesigned child account setup process makes it easier to enable age based protections from the beginning. Parents can choose which apps their children can access and gradually introduce additional apps as they see fit.
The new Ask to Browse feature gives parents the option to approve requests before children visit new websites through Safari. Parents can also approve new contacts, giving them more oversight of who their children communicate with.
Apple is expanding Communication Safety as well. The feature can now detect and intervene when shared images or videos contain graphic or violent content, adding another layer of protection for younger users.
Screen Time is also receiving a redesign. Parents will be able to see their children’s average device usage and most frequently used apps through a more straightforward overview.
New controls allow daily time limits across categories such as entertainment, games and social media. Parents can also create schedules that determine which apps are accessible at different times of the day.
Apple says the updated experience incorporates guidance from clinical and child development experts. The aim is to give families more practical ways to establish boundaries without making everyday device management unnecessarily complicated.
Performance, connectivity and design improvements across Apple platforms
Beyond the headline AI and parental control features, Apple’s latest software releases include a broad range of improvements to performance, connectivity, search and the overall interface.
Apple says apps on iPhone and iPad can launch up to 30 per cent faster, while photos can load up to 70 per cent faster after being captured. AirDrop transfers are also claimed to be up to 80 per cent faster.
iPad users can expect improvements when browsing files and transferring them to external USB drives, with Apple reporting speeds of up to five times faster. The company has also refined window management, making it easier to close, switch between and drag windows while multitasking.
On Mac, Apple is promising a more responsive experience for everyday activities. Improvements include faster AirDrop transfers, quicker starts for iCloud Photos uploads and smoother transitions between desktop spaces and Mission Control.
