Sony has expanded its premium home entertainment lineup in India with the launch of seven new Bravia Theatre products, bringing a broader mix of soundbars, wireless speakers and subwoofers to the market. Announced at an event in New Delhi, the new range includes the Bravia Theatre Trio, Bravia Theatre Bar 7, Bravia Theatre Bar 5, Bravia Theatre Sub 9, Bravia Theatre Sub 8, Bravia Theatre Rear 9 and Bravia Theatre Rear 8.

The latest additions are aimed at users building a more immersive living room setup around their television, especially those already invested in Sony’s Bravia ecosystem. The company is clearly pushing a modular approach this time, letting buyers start with a soundbar or speaker package and add subwoofers or rear channels later rather than committing to a full home theatre setup in one go.

Sony’s new Bravia Theatre lineup covers every tier

The headline product in the new range is the Bravia Theatre Trio, positioned as Sony’s flagship wireless home theatre system. Instead of following the usual soundbar format, the Trio uses separate left, centre and right speaker units. Sony says this allows it to create a wider front soundstage and improve dialogue placement, particularly with large-screen TVs where a single bar can sometimes feel limited.

The Bravia Theatre Trio supports Dolby Atmos and DTS, and it also integrates with compatible Bravia televisions. Sony is also leaning heavily on its virtual surround technologies here. When paired with the company’s optional Sub 9 and Rear 9 speakers, the system can simulate up to 24 virtual phantom speakers, promising a more enveloping cinematic effect. The Trio carries an MRP of Rs 2,39,990, but Sony will sell it at an introductory price of Rs 1,69,990 from 1 July 2026.

For buyers who still prefer a more conventional soundbar setup, Sony has introduced the Bravia Theatre Bar 7 and Bravia Theatre Bar 5.

The Bar 7 sits higher in the stack and is built around Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology. It houses nine speaker units, including up-firing and side-firing drivers, along with four passive radiators. It also supports Dolby Atmos and IMAX Enhanced content, making it the more premium standalone soundbar in the new range. The Bar 7 is priced at Rs 82,990 at launch against an MRP of Rs 99,990, and will be available from 1 July.

The Bar 5, meanwhile, is the more affordable entry point for users who still want an all-in-one cinema upgrade without moving too far up the price ladder. Sony is positioning it as a 3.1-channel system and includes a wireless subwoofer in the box, which should make it a more straightforward pick for users who want better bass and clearer dialogue without adding separate components later.

It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS, and also gets a dedicated centre speaker for vocals and speech. Sony’s Voice Zoom 3 feature is supported too, provided it is paired with a compatible Bravia television. The Bar 5 is priced at Rs 29,990 at launch, compared to an MRP of Rs 37,990, and goes on sale from 18 August 2026.

Wireless subwoofers and rear speakers join the lineup

Alongside the sound systems, Sony has also launched a pair of wireless subwoofers and two rear speaker options to complete the Bravia Theatre ecosystem.

The Bravia Theatre Sub 9 is the more powerful of the two subwoofers, featuring a 600W amplifier and a dual-subwoofer design with opposing drivers meant to reduce vibration. Sony says the construction uses aluminium speaker units and is designed to deliver deeper, cleaner bass in larger rooms. The Sub 8 is a more accessible alternative with a 300W amplifier, while still using a similar wireless design and dual-subwoofer support. Both models can connect to compatible Bravia products through the Bravia Connect app or direct pairing.

The Sub 9 is priced at Rs 79,990 at launch against an MRP of Rs 94,990, while the Sub 8 will be available at Rs 34,990 instead of Rs 42,990. Both are set to go on sale from 3 August 2026.

Sony has also introduced two rear speaker options in the form of the Rear 9 and Rear 8. The Rear 9 is the more premium model and appears to follow the same design direction as the Bravia Theatre Trio, with larger up-firing drivers, aluminium speaker units and a swivel wall-mount bracket for flexible placement. The Rear 8 is designed as a more affordable option for users who want to add depth and spatial detail to a surround setup without stretching to the top-end configuration.

The Rear 9 is priced at Rs 58,990 at launch, down from an MRP of Rs 74,990, while the Rear 8 will retail at Rs 39,990 compared to its MRP of Rs 44,990. Both rear speaker models will be available from 1 July 2026.

Bravia Direct Connect could make the ecosystem more flexible

One of the more interesting parts of the announcement is Bravia Direct Connect, a feature that allows select Bravia televisions to connect directly with Bravia Theatre subwoofers and rear speakers without needing a soundbar as the middle layer.

That opens up a more flexible upgrade path for users who may not want to buy an entire home theatre package in one shot. In theory, someone with a compatible Bravia TV could start with a subwoofer for more low-end punch, add rear speakers later for surround sound, and only then decide whether they need a dedicated soundbar or speaker system.

It is a smart move from Sony because it lowers the barrier to entering its premium home audio ecosystem. Instead of selling a fixed bundle, Sony is now giving buyers room to build a setup in stages based on budget, room size and listening preferences.
