- AWS will launch its AI agent marketplace on July 15 at the New York Summit
- Anthropic is a key partner and will offer agents and APIs through the platform
- The marketplace enables startups to sell agents directly to AWS customers
- AWS joins Google, Microsoft, and others in expanding the AI agent economy
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is preparing to unveil a new AI agent marketplace next week, with leading AI company Anthropic confirmed as one of its key launch partners, according to sources familiar with the matter. The announcement is expected at the AWS Summit in New York City on July 15.
The move signals AWS’s entry into the growing market for AI agents, offering a centralized platform for developers and businesses to build, deploy, and monetize intelligent software tools.
AI Agents Take Center Stage
AI agents are intelligent programs that can perform tasks and make decisions independently using backend AI models. These agents are gaining attention across industries for their ability to automate processes, interact with software, and drive productivity.
Despite the growing interest, the distribution of AI agents has remained fragmented. Companies typically offer them through closed ecosystems, limiting adoption and cross-platform compatibility.
The AWS marketplace is designed to solve that issue by providing a single platform where users can discover, test, and install agents based on their specific needs.
A Marketplace for Developers and Enterprises
The AWS agent marketplace will allow startups and developers to list their AI agents directly for enterprise customers. Customers will be able to browse by use case or function, making it easier to integrate agents into existing workflows.
Startups can charge for access to their agents using a flexible pricing model similar to software-as-a-service platforms. AWS will take a small share of the revenue, but the majority will go to the agent creators. This model gives developers a clear incentive while offering AWS customers an easier way to adopt AI tools at scale.
Anthropic’s Role in the Launch
Anthropic, one of the fastest-growing names in the AI space, plays a central role in this initiative. The company is backed by Amazon and is reportedly in line for additional multibillion-dollar funding. It already provides developers with APIs to build custom AI agents and has developed several of its own.
Through the AWS marketplace, Anthropic will gain access to more enterprise users, including those who might currently be using AI solutions from competitors like OpenAI.
The new platform is expected to drive increased use of Anthropic’s API, helping the company expand both its developer ecosystem and its revenue base. As of May, Anthropic was generating over three billion dollars in annualized revenue.
A Competitive Field
AWS is not alone in launching a marketplace for AI agents. Google Cloud introduced its own AI Agent Marketplace in April, followed by Microsoft’s Agent Store as part of Microsoft 365 Copilot. Other enterprise software providers like Salesforce and ServiceNow have also launched similar platforms.
What sets AWS apart is its massive cloud infrastructure and a large base of enterprise clients already using its services. By partnering with companies like Anthropic, AWS is aiming to become a central player in the AI agent economy, bridging the gap between developers and enterprise adoption.
