How to Access Image Playground
After updating your iPhone, iPad, or Mac to the latest operating system, you’ll find Image Playground ready to explore.
On an iPhone or iPad, it appears on the home screen or through Spotlight Search. On Mac, look for it in the Applications folder.
Once opened, you’ll encounter a quick onboarding process. Then, the creation begins with a clean interface featuring a floating prompt encouraging you to describe your desired image.
Customizing Your Images
Image Playground offers two primary ways to create: using pre-set suggestions or customizing entirely from scratch.
You can describe scenes like “a frog skateboarding under fireworks” or “a spooky castle birthday cake.” The app then generates your vision, presenting multiple options to choose from.
Want to star in your own image? Simply tap your profile icon to add an illustrated version of yourself. Swap the photo reference to include friends, pets, or specific shots synced from your Photos app. This flexibility allows for endless personalization.
Exciting Preset Options
For quick inspiration, you’ll find preset options like:
- Locations: Desert, city, forest, space, or stadium.
- Roles: Superhero, astronaut, scientist, or artist.
- Atmosphere: Fireworks, seasons, parties, and adventures.

Artistic Styles at Your Fingertips
Image Playground currently supports two styles: Animation (a Pixar-like aesthetic) and Illustration (classic artistic rendering). A forthcoming update will add a Sketch style for even more variety.
