- Pixel 9 Pro XL is expected to be similar in size to Galaxy S24 Ultra.
- Design differences include camera setup and finish.
Prototypes of Google’s upcoming Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL have surfaced online, showing intriguing differences between the two models.
Leaked videos from the Ukrainian PixoPhone channel, now saved by the news site YTechB, reveal a notable size disparity and design elements.
Prototype Details
The first video reveals that the phone is larger and bulkier than the standard Pixel 9. This aligns with past rumors, which suggest the Pixel 9 will feature a 6.2-inch display.
While the exact size of the phone is unknown, 9To5Google reports it to be around 6.73 inches. A second video compares it to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which sports a 6.8-inch display, indicating that the two devices are quite similar in size.
Design Features
Both prototypes exhibit etchings on their rear panels, typical of Google’s prototype units. Although partially covered by stickers, the edges of these etchings are visible.
Notably, the presence of the “G” logo suggests that these designs are close to the final release versions.
Camera and Finish
It features a longer camera bar than the standard model, accommodating three lenses, an LED flash, and what appears to be a temperature sensor. In contrast, the Pixel 9 has a simpler setup with two lenses and a flash.
Aesthetic differences are also evident. The Pixel 9 has a glossy rear panel, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL opts for a matte finish, which is less prone to fingerprints.
Interestingly, the sides of the devices feature opposite finishes – the Pixel 9 has matte sides, whereas the Pixel 9 Pro XL has glossy sides.
Upcoming Pixel Event
It’s important to remember that these prototype details may not reflect the final product. Google is set to hold its next Pixel event on August 13, where more concrete information is expected. Until then, these leaks should be taken with caution.
