Samsung Galaxy A08 has officially arrived in India, giving Samsung’s affordable smartphone lineup a new option for buyers looking for a large display, a high capacity battery and a capable camera setup without moving into the premium segment.
The new Galaxy A08 is aimed at everyday smartphone users. Samsung is positioning the device for common tasks such as social media, video streaming, casual gaming, photography and staying connected throughout the day. The phone also brings several software and security features that are becoming increasingly important in the budget and mid range smartphone market.
Samsung Galaxy A08 price and availability in India
Samsung has launched the Galaxy A08 in India with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The phone is priced at Rs 18,499.
The Galaxy A08 is available in three colour options: Dark Blue, Silver and Green. Customers can purchase the smartphone through Samsung Exclusive Stores, partner retail outlets, Samsung’s online store and other online platforms.
Samsung is also offering payment options designed to make the phone easier to purchase. Buyers can choose zero interest EMI plans for up to six months using eligible bank cards. The company is also offering financing through NBFC partners for up to nine months.
At this price, the Galaxy A08 enters a competitive part of the Indian smartphone market, where buyers typically expect a combination of a large display, long battery life, decent cameras and reliable software support.
One of Samsung’s notable selling points is its long term software commitment. The company says the Galaxy A08 will receive up to six generations of operating system upgrades along with six years of security updates. For buyers who intend to keep their phone for several years, that support could be an important consideration.
Galaxy A08 specifications and performance
The Samsung Galaxy A08 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99+ chipset. Samsung says the new processor delivers significant performance improvements over the Galaxy A06.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy A08 offers up to 84 percent higher single core CPU performance, 43 percent higher multi core CPU performance and 60 percent higher GPU performance compared with its predecessor.
The phone comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built in storage. Users who need more space can expand storage using a microSD card, with support for cards of up to 2TB.
The large storage expansion option should be useful for people who keep a substantial collection of photos, videos, music and downloaded content on their smartphones. It also means users do not necessarily have to rely entirely on cloud storage when the internal storage starts filling up.
On the front, the Galaxy A08 features a 6.7 inch HD Plus PLS LCD display. The screen supports a 90Hz refresh rate, which can make scrolling through social media feeds, websites and compatible applications feel smoother than a conventional 60Hz panel.
Samsung has also used Gorilla Glass 5 for the display, while the rear panel is made from Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer. The phone measures around 8mm in thickness, giving it a relatively slim profile despite its large battery.
50MP camera and 6000mAh battery
Photography is another area where Samsung has focused on everyday usability. The Galaxy A08 has a dual camera setup on the back, led by a 50MP wide angle camera with an f/1.8 aperture.
The main camera is joined by a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. The depth camera is designed to assist with portrait photography by helping separate the subject from the background.
For selfies and video calls, the phone has an 8MP front camera with an f/2.0 aperture.
The bigger highlight, however, is the battery. The Galaxy A08 packs a 6000mAh battery, giving it more capacity than many conventional smartphones in this segment. Samsung says the phone can deliver up to 22 percent longer video playback compared with the Galaxy A06.
The handset also supports 25W fast charging. That should help reduce charging times compared with slower charging systems, although the actual charging time will depend on factors such as the charger, usage and battery level.
The combination of a large battery and a 90Hz display makes the Galaxy A08 particularly focused on users who spend a lot of time watching videos, browsing social media or using their phone throughout the day.
Security and everyday features
Samsung is also highlighting privacy and security with the Galaxy A08. The phone comes with Samsung Knox Security, which is designed to protect sensitive information including passwords and biometric data.
For everyday users, the Galaxy A08 brings together several features that are increasingly expected from modern smartphones. There is a large 90Hz display, a 50MP primary camera, expandable storage, a high capacity 6000mAh battery and 25W charging.
The phone is available in Dark Blue, Silver and Green, giving buyers three relatively understated colour choices. With a price of Rs 18,499, the Galaxy A08 will compete for attention among consumers looking for a Samsung phone with a large screen and long battery life.
Samsung’s long software support promise also gives the device a longer planned lifespan. The company says the Galaxy A08 is eligible for up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
For buyers who prioritise battery endurance, expandable storage and Samsung’s software ecosystem, those features form the core proposition of the new Galaxy A08.
