- Microsoft has introduced DirectSR, a new tool for Windows that makes it easier for game developers to use different upscaling methods like DLSS, FSR, and XeSS.
- With DirectSR, developers can write one set of code for all these methods, giving gamers more options and faster performance without sacrificing quality.
- This move shows Microsoft’s focus on leveraging existing upscaling techniques rather than creating new ones, as seen with their shift away from ‘Automatic Super Resolution’ on Windows 11.
Microsoft has recently announced a cool new thing for Windows called DirectSR. It’s like a super tool that lets game makers use different fancy ways to make their games look better without a lot of extra work.
If game makers want to make their games look super sharp, they have to write special code for each cool method like DLSS, FSR, or XeSS.
But with DirectSR, Game makers can write just one set of code, and it’ll work with all those existing methods.
Microsoft teamed up with AMD, Intel, and Nvidia to make this happen. So, now, if you’re playing a game and you want it to look extra fancy, you can choose if you want to use DLSS, FSR, or XeSS, depending on what kind of graphics card you have.
And Your game will run faster too, without looking worse!
They haven’t told us all the details yet, but Microsoft says they’ll show us more at the Game Developers Conference (GDC).
Also, Microsoft is going to let people try it out soon with a thing called the Agility SDK. And don’t worry if you’re still using Windows 10, it’ll work there too!
Microsoft was testing something called ‘Automatic Super Resolution’ on Windows 11. They said it made games look better using AI.
But now it seems like they’re shifting gears and focusing on using the cool tricks that are already out there instead of making something new.
So, if you’re a gamer who loves making their games look top-notch, keep an eye out for DirectSR. It’s going to make gaming even more awesome!
