Canon has released a new line of imagePROGRAF PRO printers targeting professional photographers and artists. This range includes three models: the large 60-inch PRO-6600, the mid-sized 44-inch PRO-4600, and the smaller 24-inch PRO-2600.
In addition to the printers, Canon has developed a new ink type named LUCIA PRO II. It’s designed to enhance print quality, particularly for darker colors, and increase resistance to scratches and fading caused by exposure to light. According to Canon, prints made with this ink can maintain their quality for up to 200 years without fading.
However, there’s a condition attached. Canon specifies that this longevity is achievable only when using their Canon Photo Paper Pro Platinum. If other types of paper are used, the company cannot ensure the same level of durability. Furthermore, the 200-year claim is applicable only under indoor conditions and specific lighting circumstances.
The new printers boast user-friendliness and versatility. They are equipped to handle various paper types and sizes seamlessly, without interrupting the printing process.
Mathew Faulkner, representing Canon Europe, highlights the advancements in these printers over their predecessors. He mentions that feedback from users has been incorporated into the design, resulting in improvements in both print quality and durability.
For those seeking a printer capable of producing long-lasting prints, Canon’s new imagePROGRAF PRO series offers a promising solution. These printers are scheduled to hit the market in March 2024.
