Nike is taking its innovation game to a new level. The company has announced the creation of a single, unified innovation engine that brings together Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse. This move aims to boost creativity, speed up development and help athletes perform at their best.

The new structure falls under Nike’s Sport Offense initiative and focuses on uniting the company’s Innovation, Design and Product teams. By combining their strengths, Nike plans to develop groundbreaking products that reflect real athlete needs and push the limits of sport performance.

A United Vision for the Future of Sport

Nike’s new approach blends the creative power of three brands into one athlete-focused creation hub. The goal is simple: to accelerate innovation and strengthen the company’s connection with athletes at every level.

Phil McCartney, Chief Innovation, Design and Product Officer at Nike, said the move honors the legacy of co-founder Bill Bowerman while echoing a challenge from the late Kobe Bryant. “Create epic things and make athletes better,” McCartney said. “Everything begins and ends with the athlete’s voice, their goals, their struggles, their drive.”

He added that by uniting teams across Nike, Jordan and Converse, the company can move faster, share ideas and deliver truly game-changing products. “It is a new day in Innovation, Design and Product at Nike,” McCartney said.

Introducing Four Breakthrough Innovation Platforms

Nike also revealed four major innovation platforms that showcase its next generation of athlete-focused technology. Each one highlights the company’s commitment to solving real problems faced by athletes while improving performance, comfort and experience.

  • Aero-FIT is Nike’s latest breakthrough in cooling technology. The apparel can channel more than twice the airflow of previous Nike gear, helping athletes stay cool even in extreme heat.
  • Nike Mind is the brand’s first neuroscience-based platform. Over a decade in the making, it launches with two models, the Mind 001 mule and Mind 002 sneaker. These shoes are designed to help athletes feel calm, focused and ready before and after competition.
  • Project Amplify introduces the world’s first powered footwear system for running and walking. The innovation gives everyday athletes an extra boost, helping them go faster and farther with less effort.
  • Therma-FIT Air Milano reimagines performance outerwear using Nike Air technology. The jacket helps athletes regulate body temperature without switching layers, offering warmth that ranges from a light hoodie to a mid-weight puffer.

Nike’s commitment to athlete-centered design is powered by a massive global team. Nearly 1,000 designers work inside the one million square foot Serena Williams Building at the Nike campus in Oregon.

The company’s research and testing happen at the LeBron James Innovation Center, home to the Nike Sport Research Lab. Together, these facilities allow Nike to blend engineering, neuroscience and design in one creative space.
