  • Apple unveils the new M5-powered iPad Pro with major AI-focused performance upgrades.
  • The M5 chip is 3.5 times faster than the M4 and includes a Neural Accelerator for smarter tasks.
  • Both 11-inch and 13-inch models feature the same thin design and Ultra Retina XDR display.
  • Connectivity improves with WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, and new chips, while pricing remains unchanged.

Apple has just announced its most advanced tablet yet — the new iPad Pro powered by the M5 chip. The company is calling it its fastest and most AI-ready device to date. The reveal came on October 15, with Apple confirming that both the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro models will run on the same powerful M5 silicon now debuting in new 14-inch MacBook Pros.

The new iPad Pro lineup keeps the same design that users already know. The 11-inch version remains 5.3 millimeters thick, while the 13-inch model holds onto its title as Apple’s thinnest device at just 5.1 millimeters. Both versions feature the Ultra Retina XDR display with tandem OLED technology, known for its deep blacks and stunning brightness.

M5 Chip Brings Speed and Smarter AI Performance

At the heart of the update is Apple’s new M5 chip, which the company says is 3.5 times faster than the M4 chip used in the previous generation. Apple is emphasizing not only speed but also artificial intelligence. The M5 chip introduces a redesigned GPU that includes a Neural Accelerator inside each core. Combined with a faster 16-core Neural Engine, the tablet is built to handle demanding AI and productivity tasks with ease.

This setup also boosts memory performance. The M5 offers 150GB per second of unified memory bandwidth, which Apple claims is 30 percent faster than before. For creative professionals, multitaskers, and anyone running AI-driven apps, this should mean smoother workflows and quicker responses.

Apple’s focus on AI power hints at what is coming next. While the company has yet to launch the full version of its new Apple Intelligence platform, this hardware update shows that the iPad Pro is more than ready for it. Many expect Apple to roll out Apple Intelligence early next year, which will bring smarter features and a more capable Siri.

Designed for iPadOS 26 and Better Multitasking

The new iPad Pro models ship with iPadOS 26, a system designed to feel more like a desktop environment. Apple’s latest operating system supports advanced multitasking and flexible app windows. With the M5 chip inside, the tablet can now take full advantage of these desktop-like capabilities.

The improved chip also means users can run heavier apps, edit high-resolution video, and perform AI-based tasks such as real-time image generation and natural language processing without lag. The combination of the M5 and iPadOS 26 positions the iPad Pro as both a productivity tool and an AI playground.

Better Connectivity and Future-Proof Features

Apple is also upgrading the connectivity options for the new iPad Pro. Inside are the new C1X and N1 chips, which enhance wireless performance and support the latest standards. Users will get access to WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread connectivity. These additions ensure faster wireless speeds, improved stability, and better communication with smart home devices.

Even with all these updates, Apple has kept the same pricing as the previous generation. The 11-inch iPad Pro starts at 999 dollars in the United States, while the 13-inch model starts at 1,299 dollars. Both are available in Space Black and Silver, with storage options ranging up to 2 terabytes. Pre-orders are already open on the Apple Store, and shipping begins on October 22.

An AI Future Waiting to Unfold

Apple’s push toward AI-powered computing is clear in this release. The company is preparing its devices for a future where intelligent software does more of the heavy lifting. What remains missing for now is the full rollout of Apple Intelligence, which promises deeper integration across devices and smarter system-wide behavior.

Many users are eager to see how the M5 chip will handle third-party AI models. Apple has signaled that it is open to collaborations with external platforms such as ChatGPT, which could create new possibilities for developers and users alike. Once Apple Intelligence arrives, it is expected to work seamlessly with the M5 hardware, offering faster processing, better multitasking, and a more capable Siri.

The new iPad Pro may not look different on the outside, but under the hood, it represents a significant leap. Apple is laying the groundwork for a new generation of AI-ready devices that blend speed, intelligence, and thin design in a way only Apple can deliver.
